Bleeding Pap Smear
If performed while bleeding, pap smear tests are inaccurate and will not detect the possible causes of urethritis and vaginal discharge.
Although a conventional cytology is good in screening for non-symptomatic cellular changes and early cancers, by itself it is not always considered an appropriate test. When problems such as spotting between periods, after menopause, and after intercourse, or having blood stained discharge, a doctor visit is advised.

Bleeding Pap Smear -
Urethritis, Vaginal Discharge
Cervical cell swabs taken during menstruation make it difficult for pathologists to discern cervical complications. Uncharacteristic cells can be masked by the blood and slough of menstruation. Therefore, an exam about 2 weeks after menstruation has stopped is optimal. If performed while bleeding, pap smear tests are inaccurate and will not detect the possible causes of urethritis and vaginal discharge.
